Heart transplantation is specialist care for selected patients with advanced organ disease. Eligibility, donor arrangements and access must be confirmed by an authorised transplant programme; a travel enquiry does not establish acceptance.

Assessment comes before travel
A transplant team reviews the diagnosis, other health conditions, previous treatment, investigations and the support needed before and after transplantation. Ask which records are required and whether an assessment appointment is appropriate.
Donor and programme requirements
Donor processes, clinical eligibility and national or institutional requirements differ. Confirm your individual situation directly with the authorised programme. Do not make payments or travel on the assumption that an organ or procedure is available.
Risks and ongoing treatment
Discuss the operation, rejection, infection, medicines that affect the immune system and the possibility of further treatment. Transplant care requires ongoing specialist monitoring, not only an operation and a short stay.
Questions to clarify
- Which authorised centre has reviewed the case?
- What are the eligibility and donor requirements?
- What is the realistic assessment and treatment timeline?
- Who provides long-term prescriptions and follow-up after return?
- Which costs and contingencies are included in writing?
