How to Prepare for Having Breast Lift in Iran?

Haven’t decided yet? Let us help you, it’s free

Breast lift surgery is a procedure in which the surgeon eradicates excess skin of the breast and reshapes it properly, maintaining the function of breastfeeding, areolae site, and nipple sensation. If the breasts are too big, some excess fat may be removed (reduction) during the surgery, while in the opposite case the surgeon may implant fat tissue of the same patient or an implant (augmentation) to obtain larger breasts.

Why breast lift surgery?

After recurrent pregnancies, the ligaments (bonds) that assist in holding breasts may extend as breasts become fuller and heavier. Furthermore, as the woman gets older, the skin of the breast becomes less flexible and gradually begins to stretch especially in the women who have large and heavy breasts, or in case of weight change. Gravity in long term may cause stretching in the breasts.

Breast lift surgery is mainly a cosmetic surgery (except the cases of reconstructive surgery). It aims to restore your chest roundness, improve your appearance, and give you more self-confidence

How is breast lift surgery performed?

This surgical procedure aims to regain natural contour and size with the least amount of visible scars. This aim can be achieved by cutting off the excess skin, and/or compensate for the lost volume. There are many types of mastopexy surgery according to the breast lift incision types, which often connect with the quantity of lift achieved.

You may benefit from having the surgery to ask for breast reduction or augmentation at the same time.

Before breast lift surgery, the surgeon locates the site of the nipples. In most patients, the nipple location is at or slightly above the inframammary fold.

The surgeon makes, for instance, an incision around the areolae with another vertical incision toward the inframammary fold (3-5 cm above it). He/she may extend the incision left and right as an inverted T letter. This position enables the surgeon to cut off the extra skin and to do the breast lift without breast implants or to support breast lift with breast implant (augmentation) if it is necessary. If the breast is large, the surgeon may cut off some of the fat tissues and reduce its size as he/she performs the breast lift surgery with breast reduction.

After reshaping the breast, the surgeon may make inner dissolvable stitches and another layer of external stitches in addition to placing a drain, and put surgical tape over the surgery area.

Breast lift surgery recovery and post-operative care

During the first stage of mastopexy recovery, the bandages will cover your breasts. You will wear a surgical bra for several days after the operation and you may later put on a lift breast tape.

Some analgesics are necessary during the mastopexy healing. Be careful about having hard activities like bending and lifting. It is recommended to avoid that, to sleep on your back, and to resume your daily activity according to your mastopexy recovery tips.

What are the common risks and side effects of breast lift surgery?

  • Scarring: Though scars will be It will generally become less hard and grow faint. You can conceal it by bra and bathing suits.
  • Changes in nipple or breast sensation: Usually, the sensation will return during several weeks, however, some lack of sensation may be perpetual, while the erotic sensation remains intact.
  • Irregularities in the shape and size of the breasts: It is sometimes difficult for the surgeon to achieve complete symmetry, especially when augmentation goes with breast lift. However, experienced plastic surgeons can achieve the best possible symmetry between the breasts.
  • Partial or total necrosis of the nipples or areolae because of the tension that may happen as a result of surgery.
  • Difficulty in breast-feeding: Most women have no problem in breast-feeding after breast lift surgery, but a few do not produce sufficient milk for their babies.
  • Seromas and hematomas.

However, most of these mastopexy side effects are temporary, and an experienced surgeon may prevent and lessen them as far as possible to offer excellent mastopexy outcomes.
