Be it male or female, no one likes a recessed or weak jawline. That’s why people go for the procedure of enhancing and correcting their jaws.

However, when it comes to beauty, the budget becomes a deciding factor. That’s where the trending phenomenon of medical tourism comes in, picking up where treatment in your homeland leaves off.

This is indeed an opportunity for those looking for cheaper services. But some destinations are getting noticed for offering particular procedures at their bests. One good example is Iran, which has turned into a reliable destination for getting various cosmetic procedures, including jaw augmentation.

What Is Jawline Enhancement?

Jawline enhancement, also known as jaw augmentation, helps with making a so-called “weak jaw” to appear more defined and strong looking.

  1. Front of the jaw which is called the “chin”.
  2. Back of the jaw which is called ramus or angle of the jaw
  3. The middle of the jaw called body, which supports the teeth

There are two main types of jawline enhancement treatments: surgical and non-surgical, which will be discussed later on.

As for the sections of the jaw, a person might have a deficiency in one or more of those areas. So, when deciding to undergo a jawline augmentation, all of these must be taken into account in order for them to be in sync and harmony with each other.

Why Jawline Enhancement?

Jaw forms the shape of the face. Other than that, a defined and strong jawline and chin have very obvious effects on a person’s looks and significantly increases attractiveness.

Moreover, jawline shape tells us about a person’s personality. For instance, a person’s strong chin and jaw might be a sign of his/ her strong character.

Some people have inherited a recessed chin. Some have problems due to improper alignment of the teeth, which can sometimes be corrected with braces or orthognathic surgery.

Aging also reduces our jawline definition due to skin sagging and drooping and fat accumulation.

Jaw enhancement treatment is a great option for people who have beauty concerns and are looking to improve their looks by overcoming their weak jawlines.

How Is Jawline Enhancement Done in Iran?

Jaw augmentation in Iran is performed with different surgical and non-surgical methods by trained and experienced plastic surgeons.

As mentioned earlier, there are two surgical and non-surgical methods for jaw augmentation. Now we’re going through each of the mentioned methods separately.

Surgical Jawline Augmentation

This surgery which is also referred to as jaw implants, is ideal for men and women with small jaws, giving them an angular and strong jawline.

Jaw implants are also called gonial angle implants because they augment the gonial angle of the jaw. These manufactured implants are designed for different jawline shapes.

This surgery is done under general anesthesia. The surgeon makes incisions inside the mouth. Then, the implant is placed through the incisions, hidden inside the mouth, right against the jawbone behind the masseter muscle and is held in place with titanium screws.

Sometimes chin augmentation is also performed simultaneously with the jawline augmentation surgery. Chin implants are placed through small incisions made inside the lower lips. People with small and weak chins can benefit from this surgery along with jaw enhancement. These will give them more balanced facial features and looks.

What type of jaw implants are used in Iran?

Medapor and silicone implants are the two main types of jawline implants. The body tissues can grow into Medapor implants and they have the benefit of being more stable than silicone implants.

PROs and CONs of jaw augmentation surgery

The advantage of this surgery is that there are no external scars because all of the incisions are made from inside of the mouth. Furthermore, the implants can result in more harmony as they can be shaped to match the patient’s jawline.

After enhancing your jawline, you’ll experience limited ability to smile, talk, and open your mouth and you may go through some level of discomfort for a limited time. It also takes a few weeks or months to see the final results.

Non-surgical Jawline Enhancement

Another type of jawline contouring treatment is a non-surgical method which is called dermal filler jawline injections.

Filler injection for jawline is done in clinics specialized in skin care and cosmetic procedures in Iran. The cost depends on the volume used in each session, which is usually about 2 CC. It also depends on the type of gel, doctor and clinical services.

PROs and CONs of jaw augmentation with fillers

  • No downtime and hospital stay
  • No external or internal scarring
  • No need for general anesthesia
  • Reversible process
  • Immediate results
  • It does not correct every problem
  • The results are temporary

Recovery after Jawline Augmentation Procedures

The duration and nature of your recovery period are determined based on whether you get a jaw implant or filler injection.

After getting jawline enhancement fillers, there’s no specific recovery involved. You’d be able to go home and resume your work immediately after the injection. However, you may experience swelling, numbness, and discomfort for a few days after the procedure.

A practical point for your care

Before an operation, the pre-assessment team should review your health, previous tests and all medicines and supplements. Ask for written instructions on medicines, eating, drinking and aftercare that apply to your planned procedure.[1]
